dsc09440hDuring the tour we will visit the capital of Cyprus – Nicosia (gr.Lefkosia) which is known as the last divided capital in the world. It is split into two parts by the Green line, which divides the Republic of Cyprus from the occupied Turkish side in the North. In Nicosia we will walk through the famous shopping area – Ledras street and also cross the border line to have a look into the Turkish area.

Agios Hilarion castle

Afterwards trip we will take you to the St. Illarion castle, which is one of the most interesting places in Northern Cyprus because of its rich history, panoramic view and mysterious architecture. St. Illarion castle is built on the top of Pentadaktylos mountain range overlooking Kerynia.

bellapaisNext stop is Bellapais Abbey of 14th century, which is regarded as a masterpiece of Gothic art and also an architectural monument of world’s importance. Then we shall drive to Kerynia with its snow-white houses between archways which open on to narrow streets - it resembles a coastal town in the south of France.

kyrenia-castleFurther we will visit Kyrenia castle, where you can observe the impact of many different historical periods – Byzantine, Lusignan and Venetian as well as enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the old harbour near which the castle is situated. Inside the castle is located also a museum, which contains the original cargo and equipment from the ancient ship of Kerynia. A merchant ship dating from 300 BC, raised from the sea bed of the Mediterranean near Kerynia castle. The ship is probably the earliest trading vessel yet discovered.

dsc09534hDuring the trip you will have an opportunity to visit one of the most famous sites in Eastern Cyprus – Famagusta (gr. Ammochostos). There you will observe beautiful white-sandy beach and Ghost town, which was populated by greek-cypriots, but during the war 1974 was abandoned. Now the town stands empty next to the beach for more than 30 years.


This tour is a great opportunity to get an insight of life in North-eastern Cyprus.
