Lefkosia (Nicosia) - Lefkara

Our excursion begins with the visit of the small mountain village Lefkara, which is famous not only for its handmade lace, known as "Lefkaritika", but also for silverware and olive oil. Legenda tells that the world famous artist Leonardo da Vinci visited the village and bought an altar cloth, which he donated to the Milan Cathedral.

After leaving Lefkara we proceed to the only divided capital in the world - Nicosia or Lefkosia in Greek. We enter Lefkosia by driving along the Green Line, the capital's dividing line. Passing by the newly restored Famagusta Gate, we proceed to the Archbishop's Palace where we visit St. John's Cathedral. We then travel to the city center and visit the Byzantine Museum with its priceless and fascinating collection of icons and paintings. Our tour continues to the shopping center and picturesque old quarter of "Laiki Yitonia", where you will have time for lunch and a stroll around the charming winding alleys lined with shops and galleries.
Don't forget to take a passport with you if you have an interest to cross the border and view the Turkish side of Nicosia!
